My obsession with crushed velvet
Honestly, every time I go shopping I pick up at least five crushed velvet things to try on, I’m addicted to it! I think it’s the perfect way to add a bit of festive cheer to your outfits and it’s subtle enough that you won’t get funny looks on your morning commute. I think rich, deep colours look best in this material, think grey, navy and crimson.
If midi skirts aren’t your thing, I think a crushed velvet body with tailored black trousers and a blazer looks amazing, and is subtle enough to not look too outrageous!
I normally only wear my glasses when I’m at home or in the office, never when I’m out at events because I always feel like they detract from my outfit. However, these glasses are so cute, and go so well with this outfit, I wouldn’t hesitate to pop them on before heading out to a blogger event or festive party!
The frames have a matte finish, which I think is really chic and unique, and they’re really lightweight, so much so I sometimes forget I’m even wearing them.
If you work full-time, like me, outfits that easily transition from the office to a party are essential in your wardrobe. I’ve been into this kind of transitional dressing for a while now, and statement pieces like this skirt mean you can wear something pretty and eye catching that works in all situations.
I’m also a big fan of chucking a chunky knit over a party top for your day in the office, before ditching the jumper in the evening once you arrive at your event – easy peasy! I do sometimes take heels with me to change into, but let’s be real that’s a whole lot of effort so normally I don’t bother.
