Falling back in love with Makeup Revolution

Makeup Revolution

I remember when Makeup Revolution first launched four years ago. It was one of the first brands I really took notice of as it shook up the beauty world, offering affordable products that ACTUALLY worked, rather than the dodgy formulas of cheaper products we had been used to.

When they launched eyeshadow palettes, I hastily snapped them up. I bought multiple lipsticks, and when I Heart Makeup came along I jumped right onto that hype and bought a couple of the heart-shaped highlighters and blushers. I’ve always loved how reactive and fun Revolution have been, and every year I’ve enjoyed celebrating new launches with them.

That said, it’s been a while since I’ve been compelled to buy their products – mainly because I’ve been trying to cut down on my beauty spending – but when I attended their fourth birthday party I was wowed once again by the new Revolution PRO products that are launching imminently and I couldn’t wait to fill my basket with lots of exciting, new products.

At the event we were kindly gifted a few products to try out ourselves (which I way prefer to being given a load of products, most of which don’t appeal to me) and after using them all this weekend I was left feeling very impressed and falling in love with the brand all over again.

Revolution Rose Gold Highlighter

As soon as I spied this in our goody bag, I knew I was just going to LOVE it! When it’s applied, it’s a light frosted pink that works across the cheekbones, as well as on other areas of your face (I used it on the tip of my nose and cupid’s bow!) The pan is rectangular, which makes it easy to load your fan brush up with highlighter before sweeping it across your cheekbones.

I’m really impressed with the colour payoff of this. I was worried it would be too pink to use anywhere apart from my cheeks, but I’m happy to report it’s a very universal shade that I’m sure I will use in a variety of different ways.

I Heart Revolution 24k Gold eyeshadow palette

When I Heart Revolution first launched these chocolate eyeshadow palettes, I really wasn’t sold on them. I thought the packaging looked really tacky, but I have to admit I am completely loving this 24k Gold version and I think the chocolate palette design actually looks really pretty (although it does make it quite bulky, and therefore hard to store).

I used a combination of matte and shimmer shades from the palette to create the eyeshadow look above and I have to admit, although the mattes weren’t the most pigmented, they were really easy to apply and blend for a pretty eyeshadow look.

Revolution Pro Supreme Matte Lip Pigment in Illusion

I’m a sucker for a good liquid lipstick, so I knew I would love this as soon as I saw it. The applicator really hugs your lips as you apply the product, making it easy to get a pigmented, flawless matte finish. I also really love the brown-nude colour of Illusion so I’m sure it’s one I’ll be wearing lots. When I wore it over the weekend it lasted on my lips all day, which I was really impressed by. I’ll definitely be picking up more of these.
