Just over a week ago I was invited down to the Beefeater in Croydon to sample their Summer menu. There’s a Beefeater close to me (in Chessington) and I’ve always been interested to visit, so having a preview of the new menu was really great! I brought my brother along with me and it was really great to get his opinion on their food as well as my own.
To begin with we were given platters of loaded potato dippers, with spring onion, cheese and bacon, which were literal heaven. Potato skins with cheese and bacon are one of my favourite things and I could have easily have eaten the whole plate, but as we had a whole evening of food coming our way I decided to only try a few.
Following that was a prawn cocktail, which had a really tasty sauce, and then a chicken, bacon and avocado salad which I didn’t try but my brother assured me was really amazing. He’s typically a steak and chips guy, so for him to say he would happily order the salad was quite impressive!
After sampling the starters and salads, we were treated to some of the mains. Above are photos of the fish and chips, piri piri chicken and steak, we were also given burger samples, but unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of them!
The fish and chips were really lovely, I normally find fish in batter can be really greasy but this wasn’t, it was actually really light. The piri piri chicken was definitely my favourite for the night, it was perfectly spicy (just enough kick without being overwhelming) and the chicken was really juicy. I’m not normally a steak fan, but these were really well cooked so I actually really enjoyed it.
It’s also worth noting that Beefeater now offer unlimited chips with their meals which is really amazing! They triple cook them for extra crispyness and they taste amazing.
Finally, we were treated to a whole selection of desserts, including milkshakes, chocolate melts and cheesecake. In all honesty, they were all amazing, but the chocolate melt stole the show, and even after eating several samples my brother and I could easily have polished off one of these on our own.
After sampling the menu I’ll definitely be heading down to my local one, the food on the menu is gorgeous and I definitely think my family would enjoy it too.
