I have a confession to make – I’m 100% for cracking out a Christmas jumper at the earliest possible moment. We’ve got just over a month until the big day, and as I’m sure lots of you have Christmas parties and work dos to attend over the next few weeks, I thought I would share one of my favourite Christmas jumpers and how you can style it in a way that will easily take you from work to the wine bar (and potentially on to that dodgy club that charges £15 for entry and you immediately regret going to when you wake up hungover AF).
Over the past few years the humble Christmas jumper has had a bit of a transformation, now there’s so much choice on the market you’re bound to find one that works for you. Whether it’s covered in glitter and lights up or has a subtle holly design, there’s lots of ways you can wear a Christmas jumper and make it a part of your wardrobe this December.
When it comes to dressing for the office, I tend to favour comfort over style, especially because I spend most of my day at my desk! Personally, I think Christmas jumpers can look a bit too novelty if you just chuck them over whatever you normally wear, so it’s best to create an outfit that really compliments them so they look less out of place. For example, with this outfit I kept everything, apart from my bag, black and white to compliment the jumper design. Sticking to a colour palette helps to really tie the outfit together.
My second tip would be to pair your jumper with a high waisted skirt you can tuck it into. Or if you’re wearing a jumper dress, pair it with some knee-high heeled boots to dress it up a bit. Wearing a skirt with your Christmas jumper tucked in helps to define your waist and prevent the outfit from looking too frumpy.
If you want a jumper you can confidently wear into the office and out to a bar, then I would go for something more subtle like the one I am wearing above. Sticking to neutral colours and an easy to read slogan makes a Christmas jumper far more wearable than the more wild designs.
