How I’m dressing for the party season

Boohoo party dress of the month

Dressing for the party season

Now that December is in full swing, I’ve suddenly realised that when it comes to party season wear my wardrobe is pretty bare. I don’t tend to spend on more dressy pieces, because they get so little wear, but this year I’ve been determined to make a bit more effort with my wardrobe.

The key to dressing for the party season (for me) is versatility. I like having items in my wardrobe that look just as good with a jumper thrown over them as they do on their own. Luckily, I think I’ve found the perfect dress for this! It’s a skater dress, with a low v neck, which means it’s not only great for dressing down with tights and a cropped jumper, but I can also wear it to the festive parties I have been invited to!

Styling your party dress

This particular dress is Boohoo’s dress of the month, and it’s a cute striped silver and black number. I wouldn’t normally go for this style of dress, but once I had tried it on I fell in love with the way it highlighted my curves. It’s definitely a statement dress, and as it includes hints of silver, I decided not to wear jewellery (I felt like it would be a bit too overboard with the metallics otherwise!). I went for an equally statement pair of boots – my blue ankle boots from Kurt Geiger. Together, I think this dress and boots combo is the dream pairing and they work really well with each other.

In terms of bag, I would go for something mini and black. In fact, I have the perfect studded black micro bag that would look perfect with this outfit!

When it comes to party dressing, I definitely think less is more. Keeping the styling minimal means you don’t look like you’ve tried too hard and if you can get yourself a dress that looks perfect on its own, it makes getting ready for a night out far easier.
