I have to admit, when it comes to getting ready in the morning and doing my makeup I tend to stick to the same look – a flick of liner, a nude pinky lip and a dewy foundation base. I like to keep things simple, so when I’m rushed to get ready I know I can do a full face within 15 minutes and rush out the door.
That said, every once in a while I like to step out of my beauty comfort zone, so when I was sent a box of plum-toned Bourjois goodies from Influenster I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and add a splash of deep colour to my typical beauty look. Of course, I couldn’t resist my classic winged liner, but I was pleasantly surprised by how this turned out, especially as I went for a purple smokey eye AND berry lip!
When it comes to eyeshadow, I tend to stick to something neutral or bronze because I just know it’s going to work for me, so it was with hesitation that I dipped my makeup brush into the holographic purple shade in this quad. However, one I had applied it, it was instant love! It looked so pretty on and with the glitter dabbed in the middle and the darkest shade worked through the outer corner it made the perfect smokey plum eye.
Using this palette has definitely encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to eyeshadow and I hope it’s something I’ll wear lots throughout the year.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you will know I’m a huge fan of matte lipsticks, purely because of how well they last. Honestly, I am so impressed with this one because it lasted through two meals, various drinks and only came off when I removed it using a cotton wool pad soaked in Bioderma! I wouldn’t normally wear a bright berry lip with purple eyeshadow as it could be a bit too much, but in this case I really do think more is more and the whole look works together so well!
I’m so pleased I stepped out of my comfort zone for this post, here’s to a 2018 filled with lots of colour experimentation and different looks…
