Ok, yes, for a lot of us the commute to work is sweaty, and hot. We’re packed onto tubes, and arrive at the office feeling like we are in dire need of a shower but…when I’m not working I think London in the sunshine is pretty magical. The sunlight streams through the trees, and we flock to beer gardens to sip on Aperol Spritzes or Gin and Tonics (both of which I am a fan of).
There’s nothing better than soaking up the sun rays (slathered in an SPF, obvs) in a patch of green within the city. I pack a straw bag with my sunglasses and my current favourite read, Brit(ish) by Afua Hirsh, and head for my local park. An endless blue sky make me pause, instead of constantly rushing from event to event, or busying myself with creating blog content. Quite moments in the sunshine help me to relax, and to enjoy living in the moment.
Also, let’s be real, fair weather is the best excuse to start dressing in the more colourful items in our wardrobes.
I’m a sucker for a pretty dress (I was one of those girls who was obsessed with Disney princesses when I was younger, so I’m really not surprised) so any excuse I have to browse the ASOS Formal section, I’m taking it. This dress caught my eye as soon as I saw it, and it’s the perfect formal dress for summer events in London. It’s formal enough without looking too try-hard. The colour’s are gorgeous and summery, in fact, they really remind me of The Little Mermaid. The length is also perfect, full-length and it would look too dramatic, but midi length and it’s suitable for a wide variety of events.
I actually wore it to the Blogosphere Awards in early June and I felt so gorgeous wearing it. I’m sure I’ll end up wearing it again soon, probably for a wedding reception or a formal dinner.
I’m pretty sure I wear these espadrilles the majority of the week. They just go with everything in my wardrobe! From elegant dresses, to a simple shirt and jeans combo they look great with any outfit so they’ve really become a summer staple for me. They’re also super comfy, so perfect for rushing around London in. I also love the ballerina-esque tie up details, you would think this makes them a bit of a faff to put on, but it doesn’t take too long to do them up and they look so beautiful it is 100% worth the hassle.
