Ok so I am kind of (DEFINITELY) jumping the gun with this blog post, but as summer is coming to a close I can’t resist the excitement I feel for autumn, my favourite season. Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, oversized jumpers, cosy evenings in watching Pixar movies – I love the whole atmosphere and slower pace of life that comes with autumn so it’s no surprise that it’s also my favourite season to dress for.
Coats, jumpers, skinny jeans, over-the-knee boots…ALL of it is my jam and I love seeing how other people dress for the new season too. My school days may be far behind me, but I still get that ‘back to school’ feeling when September comes round and instead of picking out a new pencil case and pens, I find myself filling my wardrobe with new season patterns and prints.
If there’s one high street that kills it when it comes to autumnal style it’s Primark. I popped in last week (at 8.30am to avoid the crowds – it was surprisingly peaceful…) and did a little squeal of joy when I spotted the ‘new in’ autumnal section. Honestly, I could have bought the whole shop but I decided to not go too crazy and instead treated myself to a few new pieces I know I’ll love and get lots of wear out of.
The black longline coat – This was a bit of a no brainer for me, I mean, when am I not going to need a black coat that goes with everything in my wardrobe?! my main fear with longline coats is that they will swamp me, but this one fits beautifully and looks perfect with jeans and a jumper. Pretty sure I’ll end up living in this beauty well into next year.
The cosy jumper – Honestly, if I had the space (and money) for a wardrobe dedicated to jumpers, I would have one! There’s nothing better than a flattering, cosy jumper to throw on in the morning before heading out into the fresh, crisp morning air. Primark have these coming out of their ears – notable mentions go to a fluffy leopard print number I’m probably going to buy next week and a gorgeous lilac knit I literally had to force myself away from. I settled on this black, white and grey one which I’m hoping will layer nicely with skinny jeans, shirt dresses and midi skirts.
