World Duty Free – the perfect shopping destination for beauty addicts

World Duty Free beauty shopping destination

Beauty shopping in World Duty Free

Not gonna lie, every time I find myself passing through an airport I am naturally drawn to the beauty counters in World Duty Free and before I know it I’m at the till treating myself to lots of exciting and new beauty finds. Whether it’s that MAC lipstick I’ve been dying to try for forever or a newly launched eyeshadow palette that catches my eye while I browse the Urban Decay counter I never walk away empty handed.

There’s something about the start of a holiday that has me wanting to part with my cash and try something new, and the amazing savings you can make by shopping in World Duty Free never fail to draw me in. I’m also one of those people who has to get to the airport with plenty of time to spare before my flight, so a browse of the beauty counters is the perfect way to pass the time before I board my flight.

A few weeks ago I was flying from Gatwick to Newquay for Boardmasters festival, and I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of makeup palettes I had been lusting after for a while -the MAC Hyper Real Glow palette and Urban Decay Backtalk palette.

I’m a sucker for a highlighter palette. When it comes to highlighting my cheekbones I’m of the opinion that the more the merrier! This palette includes three pink shades (there’s also a gold version, if that’s more of your thing) – Flash + Awe (left), Rosy Glow (middle) and Light Of The Party (right). I’ve used this palette a couple of times now and I have to admit Rosy Glow is my dream highlighter shade – it’s the perfect combination of rose and gold shimmers that works well on my cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow.

Buying this in World Duty Free means I actually managed to save just under £7 (buying direct from MAC it would cost £35, but it’s £28.10 in World Duty Free) which is really impressive. For three highlighters this works out at just under £10 per shade which I think is reasonable as the pans are pretty big and the quality of the palette is really great.

This palette stole my heart the moment I set eyes on it – I’m a sucker for warm pink tones so I just had to take it home (well, to Newquay and then home!) with me. I’ve always loved Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes (Naked 3 is my fave) so when they launch something new I pay attention. This palette actually includes blushers, highlighters AND eyeshadows, making it the perfect travel companion when you’re limited on baggage space.

It comes with eight eyeshadows, two blushers and two highlighters and a removable double sided mirror that clicks into place in the middle of the palette. The pigmentation of each shade is great, and I’ve found myself using a combination of the eyeshadows and blushers to create makeup looks.

Buying this in World Duty Free saved me £9.50 (RRP is £39.50 and in World Duty Free it’s just £30) which made it a total steal! For eight eyeshadows, two blushers and two highlighters I feel that this palette is really worth the money.
