It’s been a while since I shared a makeup look on this lil corner of the internet, so today I thought I would share how I’ve been doing my makeup this month, and a few products I think are definitely worth you checking out.
I used to be a big fan of a dark lip for autumn (I still am, to a certain extent) but recently I’ve found myself leaning towards a neutral lip with a more creative eyeshadow look. Now, I have hooded eyes, so I’m probably not the best person to model eyeshadow looks BUT I have tried my best and I hope by talking through this look you can take some inspo from it!
When it comes to my October makeup picks, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed – my base. I’ve been using Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation for months now, and I haven’t swayed from it because I just love how natural the coverage it gives is! It’s buildable, and when I want a heavier coverage I tend to use a brush to apply it, rather than my beauty blender.
Alongside this, I’ve been using the Healthy Mix anti-fatigue concealer under my eyes. It’s brilliant at brightening up my dark circles and works perfectly alongside the foundation. As far as I’m concerned, they’re a match made in heaven and I will be stocking up soon to ensure I don’t run out!
Again, this I Heart Revolution Rose Gold glow palette is another non-mover, although I have dabbled in a few new highlighters recently (MAC Hyper Real Glow, I’m looking at you). The champagne shade in this palette is just perfect for me, and I love using it on my cupid’s bow, nose and cheekbones. I also use the more rosy shade on my cheekbones and I find it actually works best combined with the champagne shade for maximum highlight.
Gotta admit it, I’m a sucker for pinks, so when I spot them in an eyeshadow palette it’s an immediate winner for me. What I also love about this Revolution Pro Regeneration palette in Revelation is the mix of super shimmery shades with mattes. I tend to work a lighter matte colour into my crease before going all IN with a pink shimmer and the gold shade in my tear duct. There’s so many looks you could create with this palette, so that’s why it’s become one of my October makeup must-haves.
I love trying new mascaras and everytime I think I’ve found The One something new arrives with me and steals my heart. My current favourite is the Essence I Need A Miracle mascara because it’s brilliant at separating lashes and adding volume. I love that this isn’t a ‘dramatic’ mascara, it’s one that I can just slick on and go. And if I want something more dramatic I apply it with Essence Lash Princess for lots of volume.
Now, let’s talk about brows. I’ve been opting for a powder recently, and I’m back to using this Freedom brow powder. Unfortunately, I think this brand is discontinued now, so I’m gonna have to find a dupe somewhere ASAP!
I’ve been a matte lip fan for what feels like forever, but recently I’ve found glosses creeping back into my collection and I love how they look layered over a solid matte lip. My matte lip fave right now is from the Huda Beauty Blushed Nudes lip set and it’s the shade Muse. I’ve layered this NYX Lingerie Gloss in Honeymoon over the top to add some dimension to my lips and I think they pair perfectly together!
Phew, I feel like I’ve been nattering on for AGES but we got there in the end! Those are my October makeup picks, I hope you like the makeup look I created using them.
