Project makeup bag – the products that never fail me

Project makeup bag

I’m nosy when it comes to beauty products and books. I like to know what foundation people are using daily, and which books they devoured in the space of a day. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I like to know what people really love, rather than what’s shiny and new. So after reading Adrienne’s blog post about what’s in her daily makeup bag I felt somewhat inspired to share mine.

Every person’s makeup bag is different – some of us use it for makeup touch-ups during the day, others just keep products to tame that frizz. Personally, I only ever use a makeup bag when I’m going to be doing a full face of makeup on the go. Otherwise, I tend to chuck a lip gloss and concealer brush in my bag and leave it at that. So, here’s a look inside my makeup bag – a glimpse at the products I keep on stand by for a flawless face of makeup when I’m limited on time and space to get ready.

Bourjois healthy mix foundation

All about that base

When it comes to base products, I have three products that I use – a primer, foundation and setting spray. My primer of choice right now is the Max Factor Smooth Miracle primer (GIFTED). It applies like a moisturiser, but leaves your skin feeling slightly tacky, a texture that is only acceptable just before applying foundation!

When it comes to foundations, I tend to just have one on the go at a time and right now it’s the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. For me, this gives a perfect healthy glow and it’s a foundation I’ve been a fan of for many years! I tend to alter between shades 52-53 depending on how tanned I am.

Finally, a setting spray is crucial for me because I don’t like to use setting powders. For some reason they just make my makeup look too ‘fake/powdery’ for me, so a setting spray is the perfect way to get around that. The Revolution Pro Supreme Matte Finishing Spray sets my makeup perfectly and I use it so much I get through a bottle every couple of months.

Mega Lightning highlighter

Blush and glow

Ok, so if I’m in a real rush I would just go for the blusher, but when I have a bit of time I always opt for a blusher and highlighter combo! My favourite blusher is Soap and Glory Peach Party (GIFTED) because it contains a mix of shimmery peaches, pinks and bronzes that make a really flattering cheek shade.

I’m a bit of a highlighter addict, so I have a few firm favourites, but when it comes to one that’s easier to transport (the MAC Hyper Real Glow (GIFTED) palette is a bit too clunky for me to lug around) I’ll always reach for the Makeup Obsession Mega Lightning highlighter (GIFTED).

Zoella Colourpop Bellini eyeshadow paint

Super quick eyes

I used to be a fan of complicated eyeshadow looks, but as I’ve become a bit more lax with my makeup I like to get my eyes done as quickly as possible. So, when it comes to eyeshadow the Zoella x Colourpop Supernova Shadow in Bellini is a real winner for me. It’s a gorgeous rose gold that blends with minimal effort, so I can swipe it on and be done in seconds!

I always use a nude liner on my waterline to brighten up my eyes, and I’ve nearly used up the Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eyeliner Nude. It glides on really smoothly and is really pigmented.

When it comes to brows, I’ve been a brow gel fan for a while now. Just brush it through and go, nice and easy (and you’re unlikely to end up with unnatural, or wonky, brows). The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel (GIFTED) is one I’ve been excited to try for a while and it’s such an easy product to use, I’m sure I’ll be using it all the way up.

Finally, I am SUPER picky when it comes to mascaras, and now that my The Mascara Revolution has dried out a bit it’s perfect for me! I love how it gives my lashes volume, and length, without being clumpy.

MAC Mehr matte lip

The pinky nude lip

I’ve had phases of ‘perfect lip’ shades throughout my teenage years and 20s, but right now I am loving MAC Mehr. It’s a matte lip, and is described as a ‘dirty blue pink’ – which I find is perfect for cool-toned skin tones like mine!

So that’s what is in my current makeup bag – I would love to know what’s in yours? I know that Adrienne has started #ProjectMakeupBag, so if you do share make sure you use the hashtag so we can all have a nosy!
