Five products that keep my natural hair looking gorge

Embracing my natural hair

I have a confession to make. Until very recently I really didn’t rate my natural hair. Of course, sometimes I would wear it natural, but it wasn’t my favourite way to style my hair. I preferred frying it to death with straighteners, blow driers and curling wands. I just felt it looked prettier, and less messy that way. As far as I was concerned, my curls were prone to frizz and unruly. Boy am I glad my mentality on THAT has changed!

I may have been fighting my natural hair for over a decade, but recently I’ve really leant into it and I’ve fallen head over heels for the natural texture I have. I’ve found a set of products that really work for my hair, and leave it looking gorgeous, so today I thought I would share the five products that keep my natural hair looking gorge.

natural hair haircare routine

My natural hair saviours

I’m a fan of simple routines. When it comes to brushing my teeth, my skincare and my haircare I like to keep it as simplistic and time efficient as possible. I don’t want to spend 20-30 minutes each morning trying to look ‘perfect’ so I choose products that are easy to use and have immediate results. There’s just five products in my haircare routine – shampoo and conditioner, a hair mask, a curling cream and an oil. I use these pretty much daily and when I do my hair looks BOMB.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Sleek Restorer

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer shampoo and conditioner

As you can see, I am well on my way through this set of shampoo and conditioner, and I can’t actually count how many bottles I’ve made my way through over the years! My hair really likes a nourishing shampoo and conditioner, so I tend to go for those that are oil based to stop it from feeling too stripped after washing.

These also smell amazing, and every time I use them my hair feels a lot smoother and looks shinier.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Coconut hair food

Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food

Another Garnier Ultimate Blends product, and this is actually one I bought on the recommendation of a curly haired blogger I follow! I love that this is such a huge pot, it lasts me such a long time and smells gorgeous. It is a thin formula, so better suited to those of us with looser curls, but it’s great for giving your hair a treat and reducing the frizz.

Cantu Curling cream

Cantu Coconut Curling Cream

Coconut seems to be a running theme in this post! This curling cream has a thick texture, which did make me feel weary the first time I used it, but I have to admit it is really easy to work into your hair and once you do it’s brilliant at keeping your curls defined and moisturised. The one thing that put me off wearing my hair natural was how dry it would look by the end of the day. This cream really helps to prevent that happening and by 6pm my curls are looking just as gorgeous as at the beginning of the day!

L'Oreal Elvive extraordinary oil

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

I have used this oil for bloody YEARS, probably since it first launched, and it’s a winner for me because it’s the only oil that seems to really keep my baby hairs from frizzing during the day (and giving me a frizz halo, lol). A bottle of this tends to last me a couple of months, and it’s often included in some form of offer.
