Wrapping Boots Christmas gifts

Now that Christmas is, quite literally, just around the corner I’ve started to get into the festive spirit. From daydreaming about my mum’s Christmas Day roast to planning what I’m going to wear for our annual Christmas Eve trip to the pub, I just can’t wait for the festive period to get into full swing!

As much as I love the celebrations around the actual day, there’s one thing I just love doing in the run up to Christmas – finding people’s perfect gifts! I have to admit, I’m a bit of a relentless gift hunter – I like to make sure that I get the *perfect* gift for everyone so the decision making is not done lightly.

In the run up to Christmas Boots have run a survey to find out what makes us really tick during the festive period and I have to say the results are pretty interesting…

We think the most about the gifts we give our partners

There’s no denying that picking out that perfect gift for your partner can be quite nerve-wracking, so it’s no surprise that 38% of people surveyed said their gifts receive the most thought. Personally, I think I give the most thought to the gifts I buy for my dad (why are dads so hard to buy for?!). I always want to get him something he will really enjoy, and after many days of debating what to go for I tend to settle on a book I think he will enjoy or a grooming gift set. When it comes to the easiest person to buy for, that definitely has to be my mum. I know exactly what types of things she likes, and she’s always keen to try some new skincare or makeup brands so I often end up getting her a gift set with lots of minis she can try out. And of course, when it comes to gifting I always have to get myself a little something! I really feel like Boots have stepped up their gift set game this year, and there’s no doubt there will be a little Smashbox or Fenty Beauty gift set under the tree to me from me this year too…

Lots of us start our Christmas shopping in August

The fact that a quarter of people surveyed said they started Christmas shopping in August really surprised me! I tend to start mine in November (unless I spot the perfect gift earlier in the year) and I love being able to gift people festive sets or seasonal products. On the other hand, my parents are known to be VERY last minute shoppers – there’s been more than one occasion where I’ve had to do the manic Christmas Eve shop visit with my mum to pick up some last minute stocking stuffers!

Roast potatoes are the most essential item in our Christmas dinners

I can’t really argue with that (69% of people surveyed can’t go without the roast potatoes)! That said, my absolute favourite part of Christmas dinner has to be the things I wouldn’t usually have year round. Turkey with gravy, pigs in blankets, stuffing and even brussel sprouts (I really should stop thinking about this, I can hear my stomach rumbling). I just love a good Christmas roast, and I am definitely someone who goes for seconds.

So now I pass these questions on to you! Let me know in the comments below your answers (ps. If you leave a comment with your answers you will be entered into the giveaway below to win a Soap and Glory advent calendar!):

Christmas gifting with Boots

Not only have Boots shared the findings of their survey with me, but they also gave me the opportunity to pick out some presents for some special people in my life. To be honest, I was totally spoilt for choice when it came to the Christmas Gifts for Her and Christmas Gifts for Him sections of the Boots website, there’s so many amazing gift sets in each section it took me a good few hours to narrow it down to just three items.

For my Mum I picked out the Clinique Have A Little Happy gift set, which comes with a body cream and perfume. This is one of her absolute favourite scents, and the pink glittery box that this set comes in feels really festive and will look perfect under the tree.

For my brother I went for the Jack Wills scarf gift set. I love that this not only comes with a super soft scarf to wrap up warm in, but also a body spray that smells amazing.

Finally, I just had to treat myself to a little something and after hours of adding (and deleting) things to my basket I settled on the Smashbox Cosmic Celebration 3-Palette Shooting Star Set. I absolutely love the eyeshadow palettes that Smashbox do, so love that this set includes two (one more colourful and glam, and one more subtle and neutral) AND a cheek palette. These will be great for creating makeup looks for the festive season and I can’t wait to get stuck into using them.
