How to style a corduroy skirt

Corduroy skirt style advice

Why you need a corduroy skirt

When it comes to ‘wardrobe essentials’ I wouldn’t really class the corduroy skirt as one. And yet it has become one for me this season because it’s just so easy to style. The cream colour means it goes with lots of things already in my wardrobe. The corduroy texture adds another dimension to my outfits, and is great for colder months when we all crave heavier duty textiles.

How do you style a corduroy skirt?

I’ve been really interested in mixing textures recently. I think if you can get the perfect combinations you can really strike gold and suddenly your outfits will feel a lot more interesting. That’s why I often pair my corduroy skirt with this Topshop jumper. It’s one of the cosiest things I currently own. It’s super soft, and the cream with black stripes is really chic. This jumper is easy to pair with lots of different items – from straight leg jeans and ankle boots to mini skirts and heels.

Can you wear corduroy all year round?

I definitely think that you can! Although the material is heavier than I would usually wear during Spring and Summer, it’s still wearable. Personally, I like to style my corduroy skirt in two different ways as the seasons change:

There really is no right or wrong way to wear a skirt like this. My advice for corduroy would be to go for a more neutral colour scheme to increase the wearability. Opt for tan and cream colours, rather than anything too seasonal. This way you’ll be able to wear it all year round and with lots of things already in your wardrobe.
