As much as I am sure we would all love to invest in some basic pieces that will last for years, most of us can’t afford to fork out £30 per vest top and pack our wardrobes full of them. So for those of you (like me) who want some quality, affordable wardrobe essentials I’ve shared five below that are 100% worth your money.

You’re probably sick to death of seeing these in literally EVERYONE’S styling videos and Instagram photos, but there’s a reason they’re a favourite of so many people. At just £12.99 they’re really affordable and the stretchy material is really comfortable to wear all day. These are a halter neck, but with enough material to be flattering even if your boobs are a bit bigger than average. I have the nude and black versions, I’m currently eyeing up the light blue…
Anyone else find shopping for jeans a total nightmare? There’s nothing worse than ordering a pair that you think are going to be a total dream only for them to arrive and make you look lumpy and bumpy. Personally, I’ve had the most luck with ASOS when it comes to jeans. I find their Farleigh slim mom jeans are a perfect, universally flattering fit. They’re high waisted and come in a huge variety of colours (some with rips, some without). You can find your perfect pair easily and they tend to be £32, so a total steal.
Another basic from Zara that is such an essential in my wardrobe – their halterneck t-shirts! These look more like a vest top, but with thicker materials and straps. Which means I can throw one on and go about my day without a single care about my nips being on show or ‘feeling naked’. I have the black and white versions of this, and at just £7.99 I’m tempted to also pick up the mauve.
I’m not normally the biggest fan of mini skirts, but this one stole my heart as soon as I tried it on. It’s long enough to cover my bum and the material is super sturdy. Therefore I don’t worry about flashing people when I’m out and about! Mine cost me around £17 in autumn when I bought it, but H&M have a very similar version for summer that’s £24.99. Definitely worth the price as it will go with lots of the jumpers, t-shirts and blouses already in your wardrobe.
When it comes to denim shorts I tend to not be the biggest fan. Most pairs are cut so short they’re not appropriate to be worn anywhere other than a beach or festival! I managed to find an amazing pair of mom shorts from ASOS a couple of years ago. While this particular pair aren’t in stock right now there are some really great pairs of mom shorts from Topshop, Vero Moda and New Look that won’t break the bank.
