As we’re rapidly approaching summer (and many of us are enjoying the gorgeous weather) I’m sure the dresses in your wardrobe are getting a lot more wear. It can be tempting to stick to safe, neutral outfits but while the sun is out why not wear something a little bolder? My favourite bold piece in my wardrobe is the floral mini dress. It may feel like you’re limited when it comes to styling these, but there’s so much you can do with them! Here’s some tips on how to style them…

Ok, this is my number one tip for those of you new to wearing colour or prints. A floral mini dress doesn’t have to be really loud and attention-grabbing! There’s plenty of more subtle prints available right now, and they’re super easy to wear.
With a subtle print, you’re going to want to go for a more structured or detailed dress. The one I’m wearing above has cute puff sleeves and some pleating which gives it a really cute shape. These can easily be paired with some white trainers or strappy sandals. You could even throw a soft cream jumper over your shoulders for if it gets chilly. If you’re going to wear jewellery, go for more delicate pieces that suit the soft, subtle design of the dress.
If you’re feeling more adventurous (or you just live for colour) why not go bold? If you are going bold, I find a floaty number works best. These look super chic paired with heels and can suit any and every body shape. If you’ve got a larger chest, and you don’t want to add volume, why not belt it? This will help to define your waist a bit more.
With this more eye-catching numbers I tend to keep my shoes and accessories neutral. For example, with the dress above I would go for some tan heeled sandals and a tan bag. Opting for a more floaty design means your mini dress will feel a bit more chic than a tighter number. It also leave lots of room for bloat (which I definitely need)!
I never thought I would find myself wearing a floral mini dress on a night out, but here we are! When it comes to evening dresses, I think you can have lots of fun with prints and design. Personally, I like to go for something with lots of cool details and a pretty print. For example, the dress I’m wearing above which is a grey floral print with dramatic sleeves and a bodycon skirt.
If you are going to go bodycon, I would stick to a more monochrome colour palette to keep it looking stylish. A pattern like the one enough is subtle enough to still look stylish with so much going on. Also, make sure the top half balances out the tighter bottom. Some dramatic sleeves and a but of detailing can really make your dress look chic.
I would pair an evening floral dress with some strappy heels in a complimentary colour and a suede or leather jacket over the shoulders. This will look effortless and really compliment the more attention-grabbing dress design.
