When it comes to bargain hunting, you really can’t beat a good session in your local TK Maxx. From the most affordable candles to designer clothing at a fraction of the price, you really can find anything on their shelves. I’ve become a bit of a pro when it comes to finding the best bits in their shops, so here’s six of my TK Maxx shopping hacks to help you score a bargain next time you visit.
Before you even step foot in the shop, it’s important to have a clear list in your mind of what you’re hoping to find. This will help you to focus during your bargain hunting and reduce the chances of you getting distracted by things you don’t want, or need. You don’t have to be super specific with this. It might just be that you fancy treating yourself to a new candle or some wardrobe essentials. But having these things in mind will help when you step into the shop. You’ll also be far more likely to spot them on the busy shelves because you’re actively looking for them.
Getting to the shop as soon as it opens means you’ll be visiting it before others have had a rummage. This will mean the shelves and rails will likely be tidier. Finding what you’re looking for is a lot easier when there aren’t clothes all over the place! It’s also likely that at opening time the shop will be a lot less busy than during the day, or closer to closing time. This will make for a far more enjoyable shopping experience where you don’t feel rushed.
One of the best ways to ensure you get a bargain is to look for popular brands. Finding a pair of Puma trainers, a Zara shirt or NARS lipstick means you automatically know you’re getting something that’s going to be good quality. The fact that it’s in TK Maxx also means you know you’re getting it for a fraction of the price you would have paid in the original shops. As styles of products (or makeup collections) frequently get discontinued, this can be a great way to get something high quality for a lower price.
So you’ve found something you love, great news! The next thing I do is look up the item online to see if I really am getting the best price in TK Maxx. There’s been some things I’ve looked up online, only to find it’s still being sold full price on another website! This is a great way to confirm you are getting a bargain and will make you feel a lot more satisfied when you part with the cash.
Not all TK Maxx’s are created equally. And, they all carry slight variations of the same stock. If you’re on the hunt for something specific, then visit multiple shops to increase your chances of finding it. Rumour has it that the out of town shops have the best stock, so if you can travel to one that’s definitely worth doing!
Stock in TK Maxx moves fast. If you love something, buy it right then and there to avoid disappointment! If you find a total steal, it’s likely someone else might also want it, so it’s best to commit to the purchase on the day. Not sure about it? Why not take it home and try it on. If you get buyers remorse, you can always return what you don’t want within 28 days for a full refund.
